CLASS 220 HAPPENINGS-
I have heard from a handful of you since our Coronavirus School Closure began last Wednesday. As I mentioned last week, Rheya was busy creating a School Closure Guest Teacher named, Mrs. Corona Virus. You can see what she looks like by scrolling down in this blog to last Friday's post.

Will has been busy too, aside from his "schoolwork." Will created a Paper Dog Robot. As we know, Will loves folding paper (origami)! He took it to a new level on this project that you can see a picture of here. If you think it looks fun, try it out. Here are the instructions: Paper Dog Robot Instructions. I had a "go" at this project since I was so inspired by Will. It did not disappoint!

I also mentioned last week that Graham and Levi "leveled up" in Lexia. I am happy to announce that Oliver has also leveled up! Way to go, Oliver! Look for your certificate by email soon.

If you have "news and happenings" to share, please let me know. I'll add photos, captions and stories to this blog so you can remain connected to Class 220.

CORONAVIRUS "SCHOOLWORK"-
Hopefully you have been able to make progress on your school work packets that I sent home. In it were opportunities to practice rounding, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and a few other math skills we've learned so far. There was also places to practice writing - a "Book Of Stories," a "Book of Knowledge," a Nature Observation Journal, and a  Reading Response Journal. The reading comprehension packets are also full of good practice. They don't take long to read a short article/piece of text and answer a few comprehension questions. Most importantly, you should be keeping up with daily READING. I hope you have some books at home.

I am thinking that video conferencing would work, as well as a good, old-fashioned phone call. Let me know if you'd like to have a "check-in," and we'll figure out how... Timestables.comTIMES TABLES (Multiplication)-
One of the most important skills you should leave 3rd grade with is knowing your multiplication facts (times tables). As you know from our classroom experience, there are many ways to practice these - card games, dice games, worksheets, computer games, flash cards...). While you are at home, try and make a BIG EFFORT to master your facts. If you have mastery, test your understanding with division facts (inverse operation).

A NEW PLACE you can practice your facts is at timestables.com. When you go to this site, you can login with username: firstnamelastname and password: ueshoot. Try it out!

STORY OF THE DAY-
This is another fantastic story, with an important moral lesson. If you've heard it, listen again - it's that important. If you have not heard this story, you are in for a treat. I'll prompt you with some thinking questions tomorrow!

                                                                                      Be Kind,
                                                                   Mr. M
