UNREST IN AMERICA
(Parent Guidance Requested While Reading/Viewing This Part)
As Americans wrestle with COVID-19 and all that has come with it, many people across the United States are wrestling with another concern - racial justice and racial inequity - as another sad incident in our country has sparked protest in many cities.

At school, we talked quite a bit about racial fairness and the struggle for civil rights for everyone. Much of what we talked about was based around stories we read during our Remarkable People Through History unit. Stories about Rosa Parks, Joe Louis, Effa Manley, Gordon Parks, Wangari Maathai, and many others highlighted the struggles people go through based on gender, color, ethnicity, etc.

As children and their caregivers try to make sense of the problems and unrest in our country RIGHT NOW, as it relates to the death of George Floyd, this book may be helpful in understanding this complicated situation.
*Please watch/listen to this book with an adult caregiver so that important questions and conversations can happen.
